At Tato's Team, we honor our late three-year-old son Mateo "Tato" by focusing our efforts in three areas to benefit pediatric cancer research.
What we do
Fourth & Gold Non-Profit
Tato’s Team is proud to support Fourth and Gold, a nonprofit dedicated to funding pediatric cancer research and improving the lives of children fighting cancer. We learned about F&G during our son’s battle with cancer, as our family friends’ daughter, Lucy, was also facing this fight. The organization was founded by Erin, Lucy's pediatric oncology nurse. She couldn’t stand by and watch children suffer from the devastating effects of both cancer and the long-term consequences of chemotherapy. Through grants to cutting-edge research, F&G is working toward a future where no child has to endure cancer.
Each year, we host a large fundraising event in Huntsville to help raise as much money as possible for this vital cause. Together, we’re helping to make sure that the next generation of kids has a fighting chance at a healthier, cancer-free future.
NMDP- Bone Marrow Donor Registry
At Tato’s Team, we’re passionate about giving children and adults fighting life-threatening illnesses the best possible chance to find a life-saving bone marrow match. In partnership with the "Be the Match" Program, we work tirelessly to add as many people as possible to the donor registry, especially focusing on underrepresented groups like mixed-race and non-white individuals. While our own son was unable to find a match, we’re determined to increase the odds for others.
We aim to have at least 2 events per year to add people to the registry. By expanding the registry, we’re offering more families like ours the hope of a second chance at life.
St. Jude Huntsville Affiliate
At Tato’s Team, we’re dedicated to bringing joy and comfort to children undergoing treatment at the St. Jude’s Huntsville Affiliate. We provide toys to help distract and uplift kids during their time in the clinic—some toys stay at the clinic for everyone to enjoy, while others are theirs to take home. Our mission extends beyond toys: we transform the clinical environment with vibrant, cheerful decorations to make it feel less like a hospital and more like a place of comfort.
While no one wants to be in a hospital, we’re here to make each visit as enjoyable and positive as possible for the kids and their families like ours.
